The Materials

Organic cotton, silver, glass beads, flat speakers and tunable light. Here's what each one does for your night, and why we chose it.

Silver

Two sheets, two ways to use silver

Silver conducts, and it slows the growth of bacteria on fabric. We use one property in each of our two silver sheets, so you choose by what you want from your bed.

Equilibrium: silver you can sleep grounded on

We weave 10% silver thread into GOTS certified organic cotton as a fine grid, at 400 thread count. Most grounding sheets use a polyester blend; ours feels like a good cotton sheet because it is one. One snap-on cord connects the grid to your outlet's ground port.

Every sheet comes with a 15 ft cord and a conductivity tester: touch it to the fabric and the lights show the silver fibers conduct. Wash cold with a mild detergent, and skip fabric softener and dryer sheets, which coat the silver.

SilverThread: sheets that stay fresher

Silver is bonded to organic long-staple cotton at the fiber level, then woven into a soft twill. There's no visible grid; it looks and feels like a regular well-made cotton sheet. The silver helps the fabric resist the odor-causing bacteria that build up between washes, and a cooling finish on the twill makes it cool to the touch when you get in.

The fabric was lab tested by SGS: the AATCC 100 method for the silver treatment, and a Q-max of 0.212 W/cm² for touch cooling. Each set includes a fitted sheet, flat sheet and pillowcases.

Earth

Sleep grounded without changing your bed

Grounding means being connected to the earth, the way you are standing barefoot on grass. Equilibrium brings that connection indoors, so you can stay grounded through the night on cotton you'd want on your bed anyway.

How it works

The silver grid in the fabric connects by cord to the ground port of a standard three-prong outlet, the same path the third prong on any plug uses. The cord's other two prongs are plastic, so the outlet's power never reaches the fabric.

  1. Put the fitted sheet on like any other and keep your own flat sheet and duvet.
  2. Snap the cord onto the connector and plug it into the outlet.
  3. Touch the tester to the fabric. When the lights come on, the silver is conducting.

What the research says

Researchers have been studying grounding during sleep for more than twenty years, and the early findings are encouraging: small studies have reported better sleep and lower stress markers in people who sleep grounded. The research is still young, so we keep a plain-English guide to every study in our Journal.

Three ways to ground

Have an implanted medical device, are pregnant or take blood thinners? Check with your doctor before grounding.

Weight

Weight that stays where you put it

Deep pressure, the steady weight you feel under a heavy blanket, has been linked to a calmer stress response in several small studies of weighted blankets. Stillweight is made to give you that weight evenly, whether you're on the sofa at the end of the day or in bed with a book.

Why glass microbeads

We fill Stillweight with glass microbeads, finer and quieter than plastic pellets, sewn into small quilted pockets so the weight stays spread across you instead of sliding to the edges. The shell is breathable and moisture-wicking.

Choosing your weight

Start with about 10% of your body weight. At 150 lb, choose the 15 lb blanket (54 x 72 in); at 180 lb, the 18 lb (60 x 80 in). Between sizes, go lighter. Stillweight is for adults only, never for children, infants or toddlers.

Add a washable cover

The blanket is spot clean only, so pair it with the soft Minky cover. It zips on, goes in the machine on cold, and comes in Deep Sea Blue or Desert Sunrise.

Sound

Your own sound, even on your side

Rain, white noise or a slow podcast can make it easier to drift off, but earbuds press into your ear the moment you roll over. Aura puts two flat speakers inside a contoured blackout mask, so the sound sits between your ear and the pillow, however you lie.

Dark, without pressure on your eyes

3D contoured cups block light without touching your eyes or lashes. At 113 g, it's light enough to forget you're wearing it, and a partner beside you can't hear it at normal volume.

Set it and fall asleep

Pair over Bluetooth 5.4 with your phone, tablet or laptop. Choose a sleep timer of 60 minutes, 120 minutes or all night, and a voice confirms your choice. Up to 10 hours of play and a full charge in 2 hours over USB-C. Aura plays sound; it doesn't cancel noise.

Light

Light that matches the time of day

Bright overhead light late in the evening can make it harder to fall asleep, and a dim room makes for slow mornings. Sunniva gives you both ends of the day from one small lamp.

Morning and evening

In the morning, set it cool and bright beside you at breakfast or your desk. In the evening, turn it warm and low while you read or wind down, then set the timer and it switches itself off.

Simple by design

Controls on the lamp itself, no app and no login. It's 5.5 in square, weighs 1.1 lb and runs on USB-C. Place it to the side rather than looking straight into it. Sunniva isn't a sunrise alarm.

  • Color temperature3000 to 6500 K
  • Brightness5 levels plus stepless dimming
  • Timer10 to 60 minutes, in 10-minute steps
